Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will face off in a pre-season build-up in Seoul on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Kick off is at 7:00 am ET / 4:00 am PT at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
This is one of the big games for both teams’ Asia tours. A huge crowd is expected as Spurs captain Son Heung-min may play his last game for the club in his home country.
In the US, you can watch live on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network. If you have a FuboTV subscription that includes CBS channels, you can also stream there.
Expected Lineups and Team News
Tottenham will field a strong team as they continue to work on their shape and squad under Ange Postecoglou. 4-2-3-1. Vicario in goal. Spence, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro in defence. Bissouma and Sarr in midfield. Maddison, Kudus or Johnson, Son in attack. Up front, either Mathys Tel or Dominic Solanke who is back from an ankle injury.
Son Heung-min’s inclusion in the team is big as he may be playing his last game for Spurs. He’s publicly said he might leave the club this summer so it’s an emotional occasion for him in his home country.
Spurs will be without several players, Destiny Udogie, Radu Dragusin, Bryan Gil and Kulusevski. Newcastle will also field a strong team but they have a growing injury list. Pope in goal, Livramento, Schär, Burn, Trippier in defence.
Bruno Guimarães alongside Lewis Miley or Sandro Tonali in midfield. Murphy, Anthony Gordon and either Elanga or teenager Travis Neave up front. Alexander Isak out as he’s still recovering from an injury after failed talks with Liverpool. Joe Willock out for several weeks with an ankle problem. Sven Botman a doubt with a groin issue.
Form Guide and Match Preview
Newcastle have had a tough pre-season so far, losing to Celtic and Arsenal and narrowly to a Korean All-Stars XI. Eddie Howe will be looking to get some rhythm and confidence back with a good performance in Seoul.
Tottenham have been more consistent, drawing with Wycombe and Luton, beating Reading and winning 1-0 against Arsenal in Hong Kong.
Historically Newcastle have the upper hand in recent meetings, winning 4 of the last 5, including a 6-1 in 2023. But Tottenham won 2-1 in the most recent Premier League confrontation in January 2025 and with the squad closer to full strength will be looking to carry that momentum into the new season.
