Evangelos Marinakis threatened legal action against Tottenham after accusing them of an illegal attempt to sign Gibbs-White, with his £60m release clause triggered and Spurs backed to complete the move.
Gibbs-White had been expected to push for a move to North London against Marinakis’ wishes, but the playmaker has since undergone a complete U-turn and signed a new contract with Forest until 2028.

Officially labelled as a “statement of intent” by Nottingham Forest, Gibbs-White’s new deal is set to tie him down for the forseeable future and prevents his partnership with Hudson-Odoi being broken up.
Hudson-Odoi has since posted on his Instagram story (27 July) alongside Gibbs-White from Forest’s Portugal training camp, accompanied by three ‘heart’ emojis and a ‘fingers crossed’.
