West Ham should consider a move for Thomas Frank, believes ex-footballer Jason Cundy.
West Ham are aiming for an immediate promotion back from the Championship this season under the guidance of current head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. WHUFC are positioned in 8th place in the table and are in the play-offs along with Wolves, West Brom, Southampton, Birmingham City and Stoke City after their first 13 fixtures.
The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last season after they finished in the bottom three along with Burnley and Wolves. Nuno kept his job at the London Stadium in the summer but he is starting to feel the pressure now.
Cundy, who played for Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Ipswich Town, has delivered his verdict on the situation at the London Stadium on talkSPORT: "I understand the frustration from West Ham fans. I completely get it because they're West Ham, they should be in the Premier League but they're not and they're getting schooled at home. They need to sit tight. However, I do like Thomas Frank. I do like that shout. It feels like it fits doesn't it."
West Ham lost 3-1 at home to West Brom last time out. They are back in action on Wednesday night with an away trip to Cardiff City as they look to bounce back.
Could West Ham target move for Thomas Frank?
Frank is available for West Ham if they decide to sack Nuno. However, it may be hard for WHUFC to persuade him to drop into the second tier.
The Dane guided Brentford to the top flight in 2021 and subsequently kept them there. He was then handed the Tottenham Hotspur job in June 2025.
However, the ex-Brondby man struggled to make an impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He won 34% of his 38 matches in charge of the North London outfit and lasted only eight months at the helm in the end.
Frank was given the chop by Spurs in February and has since been out of the game. He will be weighing up his options as he carefully considers where to go next.
Thomas Frank's managerial stats in all competition to date
The Verdict: Thomas Frank would be solid appointment for West Ham if they managed to get him
Frank would be ideal for West Ham if they managed to get him. He knows the league well and understand what it takes to get out of it.
He is an experienced operator who has overseen over 550 games from the dugout so far in his career. He worked wonders at Brentford and could do similar with WHUFC.
Nuno remains in the job for now though and needs to get some results quick. The Hammers will want to return to winning ways against Cardiff City.
If not, the heat will be further intensified on their head coach. As well Frank, there are others out of work right now like Scott Parker, Sean Dyche and Vitor Peireira.
