Tottenham are pushing to sign ‘this’ Manchester City winger.
Tottenham Hotspur narrowly avoided disaster at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, having secured Premier League survival on the final day by beating Everton 1-0.
Spurs have taken that momentum into the transfer market and have secured ex-Liverpool star Andy Robertson on a free transfer as the first signing of the Roberto De Zerbi era. They have a deal for Marcos Senesi lined up, having reached a verbal agreement with the former Bournemouth defender.
The North Londoners are also in talks with Manchester City over the signing of Savinho. They wanted to sign Savinho last summer, but Manchester City blocked the exit of the Brazilian winger. Instead, he ended up signing a new deal at the Etihad Stadium. However, after an underwhelming season, coupled with head coach Pep Guardiola’s departure from the club, the Sky Blues are open to offers for the 22-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano gives the latest transfer update on Savinho to Tottenham
Amid intense speculation, Xavi Simons threw a big hint on social media earlier this week that Savinho is on his way to Spurs by posting a picture of himself with the Brazilian during their time together at PSV Eindhoven.
Now, transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh update on Savinho’s links with Tottenham. He has revealed that the Brazilian international’s camp have let the Lilywhites know that he is interested in becoming a part of Roberto De Zerbi’s project. The Italian journalist added that there should not be any problem in Savinho agreeing on personal terms with Spurs.
“Tottenham are working on the Savinho deal,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Savinho was attracted by Tottenham one year ago, and Savinho is again attracted by Tottenham today. So, on the player side, I don’t see big issues. I think Savinho, Tottenham, on the player side can get done quite soon.
“Now, it’s on Manchester City and Tottenham negotiating, discussing, talking about the transfer fee. So, let’s be patient, let’s see what happens there, but Tottenham are on it.”
Tottenham need quality in wide areas
De Zerbi has made an encouraging start to the summer transfer window, but he is not blind to the gaps in his squad. The long-term injuries to Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert has left the North London side short of a reliable attacking outlet off the left flank.
Savinho may not have pulled up trees at Man City this past season, but he has the potential to step straight into Tottenham’s system. The 22-year-old’s ability to create chances and chip in with goals from wide areas makes him an attractive option for Spurs, who are desperate to add more cutting edge in the attacking third.
From a Tottenham point of view, the City man would be a superb fit. He brings technical quality, tactical intelligence, versatility, flair, directness and dynamism. At 22, the South American trickster would arrive at White Hart Lane as a long-term option to solve the club’s woes in the wing department. With Savinho also willing to become a part of De Zerbi’s project, the Hotspur Way chiefs must accelerate negotiations with City and agree on a fair price for the talented winger.
