There was plenty for our supporters to cheer about at Brisbane Road as we took our goal tally to 11 in two WSL games after a brace from Victoria Pelova, Caitlin Dijksta’s first in Spurs colours and Cathinka Tandberg opening her account for the season to power us to victory over the Villans.
That result saw us climb back up to second in the table, ahead of Chelsea on goal difference, and extends our unbeaten run in the WSL to seven games in total, which stretches all the way back into last season.
While our Head Coach had plenty of praise for our players for another exceptional performance, he also wanted to turn his attention to the supporters in the stands at Brisbane Road.
With another home game on the horizon this weekend, this time against London City Lionesses with tickets available to buy, Martin spoke how much confidence the support in the crowd can bring to the players on the pitch.
“You want as many fans here as you can,” he told us, speaking to SPURSPLAY after the game. “For us, we know every time we play here, we want to put on an entertaining game, and we want to make sure as many fans come back - and also new fans come.
“If we keep performing like that, hopefully our fan base continues to grow, but I thought they were outstanding from start to finish. The noise when we're on top, every chance, every goal, that lifts the players.
“It gives the players a lot of confidence and a lot of belief. Hopefully, we can have a good following on Wednesday in the [Players] Cup against [Brighton & Hove Albion] and that can continue moving forward like it did last year.”
