Tottenham are working hard to agree a fee with Manchester City for Savinho.
Tottenham Hotspur have already confirmed one signing this summer, before the transfer window has even opened, with Andy Robertson joining from Liverpool on a free. Marcos Senesi is set to follow Robertson on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
Then there’s been an ongoing saga with Jan Paul van Hecke, as the North Londoners have made two bids for the Dutch defender, with expectations being that a third will be sent to Brighton and Hove Albion soon. Roberto De Zerbi wants Van Hecke to be a part of his defensive refurbishment in N17 after his side narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season.
Tottenham have also revived their interest in Manchester City winger Savinho, after failing to land him last summer. Recent reports have suggested that the diminutive 22-year-old is keen on the move and excited by the prospect of working with Roberto De Zerbi.
Respected journalist gives the latest update on Savinho’s move to Tottenham
The reputable Telegraph journalist Matt Law has now dropped the latest update on the Savinho deal. He claims that the people around him have indicated that the transfer is heading in the right direction.
“It feels like it. It feels like it. I know a few people who know a little bit about that deal, and they think it’s heading in the right direction. They think that Savinho is up for it. Um, and they think that Tottenham will be able to do a deal with City this summer,” Matt Law said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast.
“So, we wait and see, but it feels positive around Savinho.”
It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached with Man City over a final fee, but Law’s revelation signals even more progression for the Lilywhites. Savinho did not enjoy a strong 2025/26 campaign at the Etihad Stadium, often being used as an impact substitute off the bench by Pep Guardiola. The lack of minutes, coupled with injury problems, knocked the Brazilian international’s confidence levels down.
As competition within the City’s attacking ranks remains intense and the club bosses are planning to add more quality to their squad, Savinho’s game time is likely to be reduced further next season. A switch away from the Sky Blues makes total sense, as the ex-Troyes and Girona man looks to revive his career.
The South American would be an exciting addition to De Zerbi’s squad, bringing flair, unpredictability, creativity and energy. He can operate on both wings, and at 22, the wideman has plenty of room to grow further in the future. Let’s hope our club officials get the deal for Savinho done quickly and move on to other targets.
