Tottenham are facing a huge summer rebuild in front of them after narrowly avoiding relegation.

Tottenham Hotspur are moving quickly in the transfer market after surviving relegation from the Premier League by the skin of their teeth.

Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is expected to become one of Tottenham’s first arrivals this summer. The Lilywhites were always considered frontrunners in the race to sign Senesi, but the transfer depended on their ability to preserve top-flight status. Having achieved that, Spurs can now get the deal for the central defender over the line.

The Argentina international will reportedly arrive in N17 on a potential free transfer from Bournemouth on July 1. Senesi isn’t only the player set to arrive on a free transfer. Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has an agreement in principle with Tottenham as well. The Scot had come close to joining the North London club in the January transfer window, but Liverpool’s reluctance to weaken their squad mid-season and the lack of quality replacement prevented the deal from happening.

Juventus making efforts to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Andy Robertson

However, there appears to be a twist in Tottenham’s move for Andy Robertson. According to transfer news king Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are trying to hijack Spurs’ deal for the Liverpool star. They have presented a proposal, and the decision now lies with Robertson as he ponders whether to continue in the Premier League or embark on a fresh European challenge in Turin.

Robertson is officially available on a free transfer after bidding an emotional farewell to Liverpool on Sunday. The Scotland international established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, winning several major honours. He has made over 330 appearances (72 G/A in PL) and been a great servant for the Reds.

While Tottenham remain confident of getting the Robertson deal over the line, Juventus’ entry has complicated matters. The Serie A side are planning to reinforce their defence by adding the Liverpool man to the roster. As money is going to be tight following the failure to qualify for the Champions League, the Turin giants are looking at soon-to-be free agents to bolster Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

If Juve manages to hijack the transfer, it’d be a massive blow for Tottenham. As aforementioned, we have an agreement in principle with Robertson, who, despite turning 32 in March, would bring valuable Premier League experience, winning mentality and leadership to the North Londoners if he joins. As the left-back will captain Scotland at the upcoming World Cup, he will want to sort out his future as quickly as possible to avoid distractions.

That said, all we can hope for is Robertson keeping his word and joining Tottenham and rejecting Juventus.
