Tottenham full-back wanted by Serie A giants.

Amidst Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive rebuild, several stars have been linked with an exit.

Skipper Cristian Romero has been coveted by several European clubs. The 2022 World Cup has recently emerged as a target for Manchester United. Radu Dragusin, another Spurs centre-back, wants to play regularly, and after Marcos Senesi’s acquisition on a free transfer from Bournemouth, his chances have further plummeted ahead of the new season. The Romanian international’s agent has been talking to several clubs in a bid to engineer a move away from N17.

Juventus have been showing interest in signing Tottenham’s No.1, Guglielmo Vicario. After Liverpool decided to keep Alisson, they have shifted focus to Vicario. However, he isn’t the only player being eyed by Juventus.

Juventus want Tottenham full-back Djed Spence

According to Italian outlet Sportmediaset, Juventus have identified Tottenham full-back Djed Spence as a potential replacement for Andrea Cambiaso.

Djed Spence was a part of the Tottenham side that beat Everton 1-0 on the final day of the last season to clinch top-flight safety. He was solid on that particular afternoon, playing in an advanced role ahead of right-back Pedro Porro.

Since the second half of the 2024/25 season, the full-back has become a regular fixture in the Tottenham backline. Spence’s consistent performances have earned him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup. It has also now brought him on the radar of Juventus, who are ready to bid farewell to Cambiaso.

The report adds that Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini knows Spence well from his time at Genoa. He was key to signing him on loan and could play a decisive role in bringing him to Turin this summer.

Spence may no longer want to stay a backup at Tottenham

Spence’s versatility is a big bonus to De Zerbi’s Tottenham as he can operate in multiple defensive positions as well as play in an advanced wide role. The England international remains the back-up right-back to Pedro Porro, but set to turn 26 in August, he will certainly want to become a regular starter for Spurs.

Until and unless Pedro stays, it looks difficult to happen. Plus, the Lilywhites have brought in competition for Destiny Udogie in the form of the experienced Andy Robertson. Should Udogie gets injured again, it will be Robertson deputising the Italian and not Spence next season.

Keeping his first-team prospects and Tottenham’s transfer activity in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising if Spence decides to leave this summer. If the Juve officials guarantee him regular minutes, the English full-back will have an easy decision to make.
