Chelsea have already boosted their attacking department with the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer. They have the chance to acquire some more new faces before the end of the transfer window. The market shuts at 7pm on Monday 1st September.

Enzo Maresca was picked as their manager last year after catching the eye at Leicester City. The ex-Manchester City coach guided them to Europa Conference League glory last season. They also managed to get back into the Champions League.

Chelsea should target Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

Chelsea should try and lure Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze to Stamford Bridge over the next couple of weeks. The attacking midfielder would be ideal for the London outfit and would inject some serious quality into their starting XI. He holds the key to unlock top flight defences and should leave Crystal Palace now to test himself at a higher level.

Eze, 27, would give the Blues more competition and depth going forward. He is a proven performer for the Eagles and they face a big battle to keep hold of him amid attention from Spurs and others. His future at Selhurst Park remains up in the air at this moment in time and it remains to be seen whether Oliver Glasner’s side will be able to keep hold of him.

The England international, who has 11 caps to his name so far his career, joined Crystal Palace back in 2020 and hasn’t looked back since. He has become one of their most prized assets over the last five years and they will be desperate to retain his services. The Londoner has made 167 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored 39 goals.

Eze helped the South London club win the FA Cup earlier this year against the odds after they beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley in the final. Prior to his move to the Eagles, he caught the eye in the Championship with QPR. He fired 20 goals in 112 outings for the Hoops as a youngster, as well as having a loan spell away at Wycombe Wanderers in League One to get some experience under his belt and boost his development.

Chelsea must offer Crystal Palace swap deal proposal

In an attempt to gazump Spurs in this particular transfer chase, Chelsea should offer Crystal Palace two players plus cash for Eze. Axel Disasi is out of favour under Maresca and is likely to head out the exit door. He spent the second-half of last term on loan at Aston Villa.

His time in England hasn’t gone to plan so far and a change of scene would do him good. He wouldn’t be a bad option for the Eagles at the back if he went there. Marc Guehi is out of contract next June and they need to start thinking about possible long-term replacements with most signs pointing towards an exit for him in the near future.

Raheem Sterling is another player who could do with leaving Chelsea for the sake of his career. He was loaned to Arsenal last season but is also back with them now and in limbo. Like Disasi, Crystal Palace could be the ideal next home for him. The ex-Liverpool and Manchester City man needs to go somewhere he is guaranteed regular minutes. If Eze left, Glasner would need someone to held fill the void left by his exit. Sterling is an experienced operator and may feel he has a point to prove still in the game.

He could easily go abroad and disappear for a while. However, it would say a lot about his character if he managed to fix himself up a new home in England and show what he can do. It is yet to be known right now where he will end up next.
