Timo Werner struggles at Tottenham Hotspur haven’t put off Leeds United and Burnley.
That’s at least what Bild are reporting, and they state both Leeds United and Burnley have made surprise moves to sign the RB Leipzig player.
Werner joined Tottenham on loan in January 2024, and last summer Spurs extended his loan stay until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Tottenham had a purchase option but decided against exercising it because of Werner’s poor performances.
The forward played 27 games for the north London club last season, scoring once and registering three assists. His goal came in the EFL Cup win over Manchester City.
Werner has returned to Leipzig, where he has a contract until 2026. However, he’s not part of their plans and both Leeds and Burnley wanted to offer him an escape route.
It’s claimed the Premier League duo made moves to sign the 29-year-old, but he rejected both their approaches. As well as Leeds and Burnley, Werner hasn’t entertained the possibility of moving to Italy, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
The former Chelsea man earns €10m per year and Leipzig are keen to get rid of him this summer, to save on his salary and also to avoid losing him for free in 2026.
Should Werner fail to leave Leipzig, Bild suggest he would spend time in the stands.
