Good evening!
Hello there. Big one up at Turf Moor tonight - two sides both looking for victories for very different reasons.
Crystal Palace come into tonight's encounter having lost their last two in all competitions, with suggestions of trouble in paradise after Oliver Glasner criticised their summer transfer policy again last week. He suggested his squad is too thin to compete on all fronts with their European commitments this season.
For Burnley and Scott Parker, the situation is much simpler. Zero points in November has put the brakes on an okay start, and four defeats in a row needs to end before it gets out of hand.
Plenty to play for in the north west this evening.
Parker not surprised by Flemming impact
Burnley head coach Scott Parker has praised Zian Flemming’s impact in the Premier League, admitting he is impressed by the Dutchman’s form but not shocked by how quickly he has settled.
Despite Burnley’s 3-1 loss away at Brentford on Saturday, Flemming continued his strong run in front of goal by netting his fourth strike in five matches. Parker believes the midfielder’s attitude has been key to his rise in the top flight.
“It’s not a surprise," Parker told the media.
“Of course there’s always a jump up and this is Zian’s first experience of the Premier League, but the professionalism of him, the hunger of him, you can see, this is his opportunity.
“He’s been in England for some time and his dream was to play in the Premier League and you can see he’s tackling that head on. He’s scored some really important goals and some good goals. Long may that continue and I’m sure it will.”
Sarr could miss AFCON with ankle injury
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner admitted he doesn't know whether Ismaila Sarr will miss the African Cup of Nations or return before the tournament after suffering ankle ligament damage in the defeat to Manchester United.
Sarr will be absent from the squad travelling to face Burnley on Wednesday, with Borna Sosa the only other absentee.
"Ismaila is out. It doesn't look that bad, but he will definitely miss both games this week with the hope that he could return before AFCON.
"All others are fine. Borna Sosa is not available again, but all others who were involved in Sunday's game are fine.
"The ligaments are not completely torn but there are some issues. Maybe he returns before AFCON and plays one or two games for us. We are still hopeful and we know how hard our medical department are working.
"It could be that he doesn't progress in the right way. The ankle is very swollen. It could also be that he misses AFCON. At the moment, they are both things that can happen. He could play for us and go to AFCON, or he could miss AFCON."
