Once again, we’re back with a round-up of the juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours that have started doing the media rounds over the past 24 hours – and we kick things off today with news that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are debating a massive £50m offer for a top flight rival’s star player.

Caught Offside allege that both teams are “keen on securing the signature” of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, who is reportedly concerned about his career prospects at Graham Potter’s struggling side.

West Ham are “not considering” a sale and seem set on rebuffing any bids, but despite their evident desire to keep hold of an England international who still has five years left on his contract, Liverpool and Spurs are both contemplating lodging a bid of around €60m (£50m).

The report concludes that the 28-year-old Bowen could be “tempted” to sign for a rival side in the hope of competing for trophies – you can insert your own Spurs jokes here if you wish – but it remains to be seen whether there’s any amount at which West Ham’s head could be turned.

The 3AM Verdict: Everyone has a price, of course, but West Ham have a strong negotiating position with that long contract and we suspect £50m wouldn’t be enough. We also think that Liverpool, in particular, will prioritise spending in other areas rather than paying a fortune to buy an over-qualified back-up for Mohamed Salah. We doubt a deal gets done.

Nottingham Forest have chance to complete huge summer deal

Over the past few weeks, we’ve noticed that quite a lot of stories linking players with Nottingham Forest end with bad news for Nuno Espirito Santo’s overachieving side – a player doesn’t fancy a move to the City Ground, a bigger team are more likely to make the deal, and so on – so it’s nice to see Sport Witness buck the trend.

They have a positive update on Forest’s alleged interest in former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, who has struggled since moving to Juventus in a big-money move last summer.

Juve manager Igor Tudor has explained his decision to drop Luiz by simply saying “here are people who are doing better than him” and “I don’t give gifts” – and Sport Witness reckon that it’s the clearest sign yet that Luiz will be forced out this summer, with Forest now having a “clear chance” of landing a player who was quite superb at Villa Park last season. No word on how much he would cost here, however.

The 3AM Verdict: So much will depend on whether Forest secure Champions League football next season – but we suspect that a lot of different teams will be interested in Luiz, some with a more established presence towards the top of the table and in Europe. The odds are that Luiz leaves Turin, but Forest will do well to land him.

Manchester United to rival Spurs for summer signing

We’ll loop back around to Spurs for our final story of today’s little round-up – according to GiveMeSport, Manchester United are set to rival Spurs for the signing of Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso.

The American had widely been expected to move to Spurs because of a clause which gives the North London club a £21m first option, which was written into Cardoso’s contract as part of the deal which took Giovani Lo Celso to Seville – but United are now set to make a move of their own, it would seem.

Any negotiations over a deal will “have to wait until the end of the campaign”, with Cardoso focusing on his side’s Europa Conference League campaign, so United “will have to wait” to find out whether they can beat Spurs to the punch.

The 3AM Verdict: We’ve seen a few reports linking United with Cardoso, so it’s definitely possible that they weigh in, but Spurs have a contractual upper hand in the negotiations which could give them an edge. The player may well have other ideas, of course…
