Arne Slot is hopeful Alisson can be involved against Tottenham, but Liverpool may avoid risking him in the Premier League.

Liverpool could have seven of their first-team squad missing against Tottenham, but the the opposition will be playing no violins in sympathy given their numerous absentees.

Alisson missed Tuesday’s trip to play Galatasaray due to a minor injury picked up in training, but Slot is “hopeful” the goalkeeper will be available to face Tottenham.

The head coach said on Friday: “He’s been with the physios and with rehab until now. We are training today as you know, so let’s see if he can join the team session today.

“That is something I expect, but not 100 percent sure yet because I haven’t spoken to him or the medical staff this morning yet.

“I’m hopeful, I’m hopeful. But that’s not to say I’m 100 percent sure.”

While the Brazilian won’t play for sure against Tottenham, Slot added that if he doesn’t play in the Premier League, then “definitely against Galatasaray.”

Federico Chiesa also remained at home for the Champions League match in Istanbul, but he too is expected to return at Anfield.

Slot explained: “I expect he feels better now, because he felt unwell the day before the game and I think we’re now three or four days further ahead.

“I think he’s able to train with us today (Friday) again.”

The boss also provided an update on Alexander Isak, telling media including the Liverpool Echo: “If you ask me now I would say I don’t expect [Isak to go on duty with Sweden], but we are still one and a half weeks off.

“There is always co-operation between club and country, but I don’t expect him to play for us before that.”

In addition, Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Stefan Bajcetic are all out with long-term injuries, but there is positive news on Jayden Danns who is back in non-contact training.

While Liverpool have their fair share of absentees, their issues pale in comparison to those faced by Tottenham.

The visitors could be missing 13 players including the suspended Micky van de Ven, as well as Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha who are out due to concussion protocols.
