Liverpool host a woefully out-of-form Tottenham in the Premier League and only a win will do for the Reds. Here’s everything you need to know.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham

Premier League | Anfield

March 15, 2026 | 4.30pm (GMT)

Arne Slot continues to oversee a poor season at Anfield, with Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat away to Galatasaray another disappointing night.

Next up is the visit of Tottenham, who are battling to stay in the Premier League. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the match.

Another Liverpool response required

Every time there is even a hint of Liverpool gaining momentum this season, they throw in a limp performance.

The 1-0 midweek loss to Galatasaray has heaped pressure back on Slot and his players, but they do at least have a kind fixture on Sunday.

Failure to beat a beleaguered Spurs would arguably be the lowest point of the season yet, though.

Tottenham battling for Premier League survival

Spurs may be the reigning Europa League holders, but their season has been an unmitigated disaster.

The north Londoners are hovering just one point clear of the relegation zone, and interim manager Igor Tudor has arguably made things worse.

They have lost their last five league games in a row, but Tuesday’s 5-2 hammering at Atletico Madrid was a new nadir.

Not only that, but Spurs are also having to watch rivals Arsenal enter the mix to win an unprecedented quadruple.

Imagine Liverpool fans having to watch Everton in that scenario!

Who is injured for Liverpool vs. Tottenham?

Thankfully, Liverpool have no new injury problems from the Galatasaray game, with Alisson potentially returning to the team, according to Slot:

“He’s been with the physios and with rehab until now. We are training today as you know, so let’s see if he can join the team session today.

“That is something I expect, but not 100 percent sure yet because I haven’t spoken to him or the medical staff this morning yet. I’m hopeful, I’m hopeful. But that’s not to say I’m 100 percent sure.”

Federico Chiesa will be back in contention after illness, but Alexander Isak remains the Reds’ most high-profile absentee. The record signing will hopefully be back next month at some point.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham Predicted XI

Slot could make a few tweaks from the midweek action, not least if Alisson is fit enough to start.

Jeremie Frimpong may come in for Joe Gomez at right-back, in an attacking move, while Andy Robertson will hope to replace Milos Kerkez.

Curtis Jones was unlucky not to feature at all in Turkey – he arguably deserves to replace the still-out-of-sorts Alexis Mac Allister.

In attack, Cody Gakpo might return, but it then becomes trickier to fit Florian Wirtz into the team alongside Dominik Szoboszlai.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike

How will Tottenham line up?

Rumoured Liverpool transfer target Micky van de Ven is suspended after his red card against Crystal Palace, in a big blow for Spurs.

Guglielmo Vicario will surely return in place of Antonin Kinsky in goal, following a disastrous display from the latter against Atletico.

Spurs have as many as 11 injury concerns, including Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus, with Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha suffering a nasty clash of heads in midweek.

Possible Tottenham XI: Vicario; Danso, Romero, Dragusin; Porro, Sarr, Gray, Spence; Richarlison, Tel; Kolo Muani

What did Arne Slot say in his press conference?

Speaking to the media, Slot discussed how Ryan Gravenberch‘s new deal shows Liverpool’s transfer model is paying off:

“I prefer not to rank them, they’re all different profiles for different positions,” he said when asked how important Gravenberch was.

“But it’s obvious and clear that me and the club sees the importance of him and how much he developed, and as a result of that he signed a new contract.

“Another young player, who was signed very young, as you know from our model, and has the ability to grow. I think he’s a great example of that.”

Tottenham have a wretched recent record at Anfield

Liverpool love playing Spurs at Anfield, not least last season, when a 5-1 win sealed the Premier League title.

The Reds have won six of the last seven home league meetings against them, also cruising to a 4-0 victory in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg last term.

Spurs haven’t won away to Liverpool since 2011, when a Rafael van der Vaart strike and Luka Modric penalty sealed a 2-0 victory on the final day of the season.

The good run cannot afford to end on Sunday!

Did you know?

Hugo Ekitike has enjoyed an excellent first season at Liverpool, but he is showing signs of tiredness, needing Isak back to ease his workload.

In fact, the Frenchman has only scored in one of his last seven matches, at home to West Ham, drawing blanks in the other six.

Ekitike’s only assists in that time also both came in that fixture, so Liverpool could do with him finding a spark on Sunday.

He did score in the Reds’ 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in December, though, which bodes well.

Who is the referee for Liverpool vs. Tottenham?

Chris Kavanagh takes charge of Sunday’s match, which is his fourth Liverpool game of the season in the league.

The Reds have had mixed fortunes in those fixtures, winning 1-0 away to Sunderland, drawing 0-0 at home to Leeds and losing 3-0 at Man City.

Kavanagh’s assistants are Dan Cook and James Mainwaring, with Tom Kirk the fourth official.

John Brooks is in the VAR booth, assisted by Dan Robathan.
