Ibrahima Konaté (27) is set to sign a four-year deal at Real Madrid, as per a report from RMC Sport.
Konaté’s exit from Liverpool was confirmed by the Premier League side at the end of May. It comes as a result of a failure in contract renewal talks. As a result, the Frenchman becomes a free agent this summer. There has been widespread interest in his services, with the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain touted as suitors.
However, he is instead set to sign for Real Madrid. He has been nearing a move to the Bernabeu in recent days, however, the ongoing presidential elections at the Spanish side held up the deal. The arrival of José Mourinho was held up for the same reason, but Florentino Perez’s re-election means that Konaté will now join the Spanish side.
As per RMC Sport, Konaté’s deal with Los Blancos will run until the summer of 2030. He will join up with his new club post-World Cup.
