The forthcoming fixture, against Tottenham Hotspur, is, in my opinion, the highlight of our pre-season preparations.
Welcoming the reigning Europa League silverware holders will, I’m sure, see Kenilworth Road packed to the rafters on what we hope will be a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Now whether our visitors will field their strongest starting XI or a mix of established stars and a sprinkling of youngsters remains to be seen.
But could playing a smattering of young talent benefit the Hatters?
Not in the way of the result of the fixture but in doing a deal, or two, with the North London side.
I’m hoping that, in agreeing to play Luton Town, the relationship between the two clubs is on a sure footing and just, perhaps, when it comes to utilising the loan system next season, Tottenham may be happy to send a promising youngster to Kenilworth Road, to further their footballing education.
Now, I don’t profess to knowing any of the youngsters coming through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur but, don’t forget, a certain Harry Kane, in his youth, was sent out on loan, to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City!
