Savinho has been desperate to make the move to north London this summer to progress his career at Tottenham Hotspur under Roberto De Zerbi, who has been overseeing a crucial squad transition for Spurs.

Having struggled for regular game time in Pep Guardiola’s final season at the Etihad Stadium, Savinho is believed to have told Manchester City officials that he wanted to leave and pursue a new chapter in the English capital after two seasons in the north-west.

Manchester City have been searching the market for potent additions to their wide attacking roster, having recruited Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January and tied Jeremy Doku to a fresh contract till 2031 in recent weeks.

Now, as first report by transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano on Thursday evening, Tottenham have agreed a deal in surplus to £75 million with Manchester City for Savinho.

This has been confirmed by several other sources on Friday morning, with David Ornstein and Guillermo Rai of The Athletic adding that the deal includes an up-front £75 million and another £10 million in potential add-ons - £5 million of which is considered easily achievable.

Savinho is set to travel to north London to undergo a medical and complete the transfer, with the Brazilian unlikely to be involved in Manchester City’s opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, talks are progressing between Manchester City and Tottenham for Omar Marmoush, who is also believed to have given the green light to follow Savinho to north London in search for regular first-team football.

Spurs are close to a double raid on Manchester City, who are yet to fill a concerning void in their midfield and are now close to seeing two wide attackers join the mass exodus.

Enzo Maresca has replaced Guardiola as Manchester City manager and while the club have recruited Elliot Anderson, Jeremy Monga and Geronimo Rulli so far this window, transfer officials have come under strong criticism from their fanbase on social media.

Having allowed an array of senior stars - such as Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Nathan Ake, John Stones - to leave, Manchester City are entering dangerous territory and there are huge concerns over whether there has been one change too many in the ranks.

The Blues won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup double under Pep Guardiola last term but the squad the Catalan icon left when he departed the Blues and the one at Maresca’s disposal ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth pose stark contrasts.

Savinho is unlikely to be registered in time for Tottenham’s opening league game away at Brentford, though Enzo Maresca is expected to face questions over the manner in which Manchester City have approached the transfer window when the Italian faces the press on Friday.
