Michael Carrick's impressive unbeaten run at Manchester United has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who could rival the Red Devils for his signature this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to challenge Manchester United for Michael Carrick's services at the end of the season. The 44-year-old has made a major impact at Old Trafford since stepping in as caretaker manager following Ruben Amorim's departure last month.

Carrick's undefeated streak, featuring wins against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Spurs, plus a stalemate with West Ham, has fuelled speculation that he might be handed the permanent position at United this summer. However, Tottenham could also be vying for his services after sacking Thomas Frank following a disappointing eight-month tenure in north London.

With Spurs languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table and potentially facing a relegation scrap, the club's hierarchy felt it was time for change.

Whilst there were early indications that a new permanent boss would be installed before next weekend's North London Derby, it appears Spurs may mirror United's approach by naming a temporary manager.

Reports suggest that ex-Juventus chief Igor Tudor is poised to take charge until the end of the season after reaching an agreement, with Spurs then reviewing their managerial situation.

Reports from The Athletic suggest that the 47-year-old may not be offered the chance to take on a permanent role this summer.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk indicates that Spurs could target Carrick's services this summer, with claims that the North London outfit had considered backing the former Middlesbrough manager before eventually opting for Frank, reports the Express.

This news emerges alongside rumours connecting several big-name figures with the United manager's role this summer, including Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate, Luis Enrique and Andoni Iraola. Carrick has also been mentioned as a possible candidate to extend his stay at Old Trafford, though this may depend on his results across the final 12 matches.

However, other prospective managerial candidates have ruled themselves out of the running. Thomas Tuchel has pledged to stay with the England national team for another two years, whilst Carlo Ancelotti is set to sign a fresh four-year contract with Brazil.

Roberto De Zerbi has also been linked with the Spurs position following his exit from Marseille on the same day Frank was dismissed.

Carrick will surely stay concentrated on the job in hand and focusing his energy on securing the best possible conclusion for United.

Man Utd's next test comes in the form of a journey to Hill Dickinson Stadium, where they'll take on Everton on February 23.
