Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to rival Manchester United for the services of Michael Carrick at the end of the season. The 44-year-old has made a strong impression at Old Trafford since taking over as interim manager from Ruben Amorim last month.

Carrick's unbeaten run, which includes victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Spurs, as well as a draw with West Ham, has sparked rumours that he could be offered a permanent role at United this summer. However, Tottenham may also be in the running for his signature following the dismissal of Thomas Frank after a disappointing eight-month spell in north London. With Spurs currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table and facing a potential relegation battle, the club's board decided it was time for a change.

While there were initial suggestions that a new permanent manager would be appointed ahead of next weekend's North London Derby, it now seems that Spurs may follow United's lead by appointing an interim boss. Reports indicate that former Juventus manager Igor Tudor is set to take the reins until the end of the season having agreed a deal, at which point Spurs will reassess their managerial options.

Reports from The Athletic suggest that the 47-year-old may not be presented with the opportunity to assume a permanent position this summer. Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur could pursue Carrick's appointment this summer, with claims emerging that the North London club had contemplated taking a punt on the former Middlesbrough boss before ultimately settling on Frank.

This development comes amid speculation linking several high-profile names with the United hot seat this summer, including Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate, Luis Enrique and Andoni Iraola. Carrick has also surfaced as a potential candidate to prolong his tenure at Old Trafford, though this could hinge upon his performance across the remaining 12 fixtures.

However, other potential managerial targets have removed themselves from contention. Thomas Tuchel has committed to remaining with the England national side for a further two years, while Carlo Ancelotti is poised to pen a new four-year deal with Brazil.

Roberto De Zerbi has also been touted for the Spurs job following his departure from Marseille on the same day Frank received his marching orders. Carrick will undoubtedly remain focused on the task at hand rather than external speculation, channelling his efforts towards delivering the strongest possible finish for United.
