Manchester City v Spurs: Gut Feelings

Manchester City take on Spurs in the opening home game of the season with revenge, and the opportunity to return to the top of the table, firmly on the cards when the step out of the tunnel.

Spurs crushed the Blues 4-0 in this fixture last season, a defeat that stung the Faithful during one of their worst runs of the Pep Guardiola era. But the new season saw City get off to a roaring start, thrashing Wolves 4-0 last weekend, while Spurs cruised to a 3-0 win over newly-promoted Burnley.

It will still be a tough match, even with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, the tormentors-in-chief of recent years, having departed the club, but the Blues look to be at their best and will be confident in the lunchtime fixture.

As usual, our team are here to give us their views and opinions on the match. Here’s what we think this week.

to me

A very tough match, have to expect a possible tired Spurs side after many matches and a small squad. I like City to win comfortably. 4-1.

City 4-1 Spurs

Will

Anything can happen against Spurs, but on paper, there can only be one winner. Reijnders to shine again and a Haaland hat-trick as City prove too much for Thomas Frank’s side.

City 4-1 Spurs

Thomas

The first match of the season at the Etihad and a home debut for all the new faces. Encouraging performance against Wolves and now City face the Spuds. Expect to see more from the Reijnders/Haaland partnership, and hopefully a start for Cherki.

City 3-1 Spurs

Pete

Both teams got off to a good start last week, and these matches have always been good entertainment. City usually have good early season form and I can’t see that changing on Saturday. I’m looking at a City win, but it may be close.

City 2-1 Spurs

How We Did Against Wolves

City got their season off to a flying start and most of us were close with the scores. Pete went for 3-0 and came so close to a first spot on prediction since the dinosaurs roamed and Dillon was a Wolves goal away from perfection. But Thomas picked up the extra points for getting the correct number of goals with his 3-1 prediction and starts the defence of his title well.
