Mathys Tel scored a big goal for France Under-21s as they picked up an important victory over the Faroe Islands in Euro Under-21 Championship qualifying on Monday.

The 20-year-old captained the side again and led by example, converting a 37th-minute penalty which turned out to be the decisive moment of the match as France held on to win 1-0 at Grenoble’s Stade des Alpes.

The win saw the French jump above the Faroe Islands into top spot in Group C as they remain unbeaten after four games. Tel’s goal was his 12th in 20 appearances for France Under-21s and he featured for the full 90 minutes while Wilson Odobert entered the game at half-time as a replacement for Mohamed Meïté.

Elswhere, Armend Muslika continued his fantastic season so far with his first goal for Albania’s Under-17s on Monday morning.

The 16-year-old, who has netted nine goals in nine outings for our Under-18s so far in the league this season, scored a 95th minute consolation strike in a 2-1 defeat to Kazakhstan in a European Championship qualifier in Croatia.
