Mikey Moore did not have the easiest of starts at Rangers, but under a new manager and in a different position, the Tottenham loanee’s fortunes have been transformed.
Rangers fans have been quite critical of Moore since he arrived at Ibrox, but the mood is starting to change, and things are looking up for the youngster.
As revealed by TBR Football, Tottenham were considering recalling Moore, given how worrying his situation north of the border was becoming.
The Scottish club’s new manager, Danny Rohl, brought Moore into the team for the 1-0 win over Hibernian on Wednesday evening.
Under the previous coach, Russell Martin, the 18-year-old struggled to find his feet, but since Rohl has come in, a new position in the team has seen him burst into life.
Mikey Moore is playing well in the number ten role at Rangers
Mikey Moore has been moved into the number ten role at Rangers and looks so much better playing in a more central role.
When the Tottenham Hotspur loanee arrived at Ibrox, one of the biggest concerns was Moore competing with Djeidi Gassama at the left wing.
But with the new head coach switching to play with two inside forwards instead, Moore appears to be quickly making that role his own.
Most importantly, the teenager’s confidence looks to be growing in the new role under Rohl, and the immediate signs are positive.
In 65 minutes away at Hibernian, Moore managed 39 touches, completed two dribbles, won three of his four duels and completed 22 of his 25 passes.
Rohl has come in and dramatically changed the team at Ibrox, switching formation, and so far, he has won two of his first three games.
Next up for Rangers is the Old Firm Derby, where they travel away to a managerless Celtic, in what will be a big test for Moore.
Tottenham will have a plethora of exciting left-wingers next season
Despite Tottenham’s efforts to sign a left winger last summer, the North London club will have some exciting attacking options there next season.
Moore will be one of two young wingers returning to Spurs, with the other being Yang min-Hyeok, who is impressing at Portsmouth.
Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert has shown much promise playing in that role this season, and Xavi Simons is another who can feature on the left.
