Mikey Moore has made the switch to Rangers, joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Moore chose Rangers over Championship clubs following face-to-face talks with manager Russell Martin.
Tottenham Hotspur view the 17-year-old as one of their best young talents and were happy with the project the Scottish club sold to them.
However, the youngster might already be encountering one key issue with the move to Ibrox following the Gers’ Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen.
Mikey Moore could face strong competition from Djeidi Gassama
Mikey Moore could face strong competition for the left wing spot from Rangers’ summer additions Djeidi Gassama.
The 21-year-old helped fire Martin’s side into a 3-0 lead over Plzen in the Champions League third round qualifying, as he netted a brace.
The £2.2m signing from Sheffield Wednesday shone under the lights at Ibrox as he started on the left wing, which is Moore’s favoured position.
Gassama is quickly becoming a fans’ favourite in Glasgow and, therefore, the Spurs youngster now faces a stern test to earn his spot in the team.
Moore, who James Maddison compared to Neymar, can play in several different roles in attack, so he isn’t just limited to the left wing.
The teenager is also comfortable playing in the number ten role and also out on the right, but there’s no doubt left wing is his favourite position.
But, Oliver Antman also impressed on his Ibrox debut with the winger playing on the other flank, which adds further competition for Moore.
Thomas Frank hails Mikey Moore’s talent
Thomas Frank is excited about Moore’s potential, and he will no doubt continue to check in on the talent during his time in Scotland.
The Danish manager was keen for the 17-year-old to go away from North London and get regular minutes under his belt.
Frank told the media: “Mikey is a big talent, I’m really excited about his future here at Tottenham.
“I think for all players, but especially the younger players, they need to get that first-team consistent football into their bodies.”
With Rangers on the verge of Champions League qualification, there will be plenty of chances for minutes at Ibrox next season for Moore, so concerns over game time will be low at this stage.
