Mikey Moore: Rangers’ hopes of permanent deal impacted by new Tottenham blow
Mikey Moore is increasingly likely to return to Tottenham in the summer rather than being allowed to complete a permanent move to Rangers.
Spurs are set to assess the winger’s position when they know their fate in the relegation battle, but feel he could make a significant impact in the Championship.
After a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland last time out while West Ham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest picked up points, their hopes of survival have suffered a new blow.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Moore’s performances since joining Rangers will force a major decision about his future.
Spurs have been keeping a close eye on his displays away on loan, and will evaluate his position in the summer, meaning Rangers could miss out on a key target.

What are Rangers’ chances of signing Mikey Moore?
Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness warned Football Insider in February that Rangers have “no chance” of signing Moore on a permanent deal in the summer.
While he has developed well under Danny Rohl and since his move to Ibrox, he is more likely to return to Spurs, who will be reluctant to see him leave permanently.
The Glasgow outfit are hopeful they can reach an agreement, but much will depend on Spurs’ own transfer plans and whether they remain in the Premier League.
“The way things are going at the moment, they’ll be in the Championship,” Brown told Football Insider.
“The big question is whether their current wingers are going to stick around, are they going to pay their wages and convince them to play in the Championship?
“It’s more likely that they’ll be moved on, and that could open the door for Mikey Moore.
“Their loans department has been assessing how well he’s done, how good he is, and whether he’ll be ready to come into their starting XI.
“Is he the level of player they need in the Championship, or do they think they can do better elsewhere?
“That’s the decision they’ll make at the end of the season, even if they stay in the Premier League, but if they go down, it becomes much more likely that he will return.”
How do Tottenham feel about Moore return?
Ahead of their plans to assess the winger’s position in the summer, Spurs have already considered where Moore ranks amongst their current options.
Football Insider exclusively revealed in December that Tottenham had considered recalling Moore from his loan spell after a tricky start to the season at Ibrox.
However, they ultimately decided to let him see out his deal at Rangers given the wide options at their disposal which made it unlikely that he would impact their plans.
Should they suffer relegation from the Premier League, though, a number of their current options are expected to move on with other clubs interested.
That would open space for the Rangers loanee to come in and make an impact on the starting XI, after impressing watching scouts with his displays at Ibrox.
