Molly Bartrip spoke of her excitement to continue her journey at the Club after penning a new deal.

The experienced defender has signed a new contract until 2028 after another consistent campaign in our colours, playing every single minute for us in the Barclays Women’s Super League – having also reached that feat in the 2021/22 season.

Having joined us from Reading in July, 2021, she remains the only Spurs player to have played every fixture in a single WSL campaign since our promotion to the top flight since 2019.

And, while it wasn’t the season we would have wanted in terms of results last term, our number five was keen to insist that Spurs was her ‘home’ and spoke of her ‘hunger’ to continue improving.

“I’m really excited, I’m proud and really happy to be here,” she told us. “Spurs is my home, I think I have known that since the moment I have walked through the door four years ago, I feel safe and I genuinely feel like I can be the best person and footballer here.”

“I have had my own battles so I want to feel like I have the right support around me, to also help me as a person but then on the pitch too, to be able to get better at the end of the day. So those were my key reasons to why I wanted to stay but, ultimately, the Club’s ambition is exactly what I want and I’m excited to be here.

“There’s still more from me and I’m still hungry to get more, and hopefully we can win things here because, for me, that would be a dream.”

Following the 2024/25 season, which was Molly’s fourth in Lilywhite, it was the perfect time to get away, recharge and relax after an action-packed couple of months, and the defender used the opportunity to do some volunteering in Tanzania.

“I took a few days off at the end of the season, I went to Tanazia for two weeks. I volunteered in childcare and that was amazing,” Molly added.

“I met some amazing people there too, people I will remember for rest of my life and hopefully be friends with for the rest of my life.”

Asked about the upcoming campaign, she said: “I think all the girls will be excited. It will be a fresh start for us as we know last year wasn’t good enough from us, so now we have to prove ourselves.

“We will hit pre-season really hard and hopefully we’ll have a successful season.”
