New contract and Preston North End loan for Alfie Devine

We are delighted to announce that Alfie Devine has signed a new contract with the Club, and joined Championship side Preston North End on loan for the 2025/26 campaign.

Alfie joined our Academy from Wigan Athletic in 2020 and proceeded to become our youngest first team goalscorer after netting on his debut against Marine in the FA Cup in January, 2021.

After loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle during the 2023/24 season, he spent last term on loan at Belgian Pro League side Westerlo, where he scored six goals in 32 appearances in all competitions and was a team-mate of Luka Vuskovic.

On the international stage, Alfie was part of the young England side that won the European Under-19 Championships in 2022.
