We are delighted to announce that Eveliina Summanen has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club.

The 27-year-old Finland international reached a century of appearances in Lilywhite earlier this month and is currently our all-time leading assist provider in the Women’s Super League.

Eveliina said: “I’m happy here. I’ve found my place at Spurs, and I think it was natural to keep going on that journey.

“That’s why I’m excited to stay here, to see what we can build on. Hopefully [we can] achieve big things.”

Our Head Coach Martin Ho said: “We are delighted that Eveliina has committed her future to the club. She has been a key part of our performances this season, bringing real control, intelligence and consistency to our midfield. Her technical quality in possession, ability to play forward under pressure and tactical understanding of the game give the team stability and direction, while her composure in duels and competitive mindset allow her to influence key moments both with and without the ball.

“What excites us even more is that Ev still has room to grow, and we see clear opportunities to continue developing the all-round impact she can have as she moves into the next phase of her career. Her behaviours every day, the way she trains, prepares and carries herself, and her professionalism and attitude are infectious within the environment. We are very pleased she has chosen to stay with us, and we are excited to continue supporting her progression in the years ahead.”

Having spent the early stages of her career in Finland and Sweden, the powerhouse midfielder made the switch to north London from Swedish side Kristianstads DFF in January, 2022, and quickly settled into life in England, featuring in 12 games for us in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

A consistent performer in midfield for us over the last four years, Eveliina had a memorable season the following year, where she registered 11 goal involvements (five goals and six assists) in 25 appearances – her best goalscoring contribution in a Spurs shirt and in her career to date.

Despite being struck with injury in November, 2023, our number 25 returned for the second half of the season and went on to play a pivotal role in our historic run to our first Women’s FA Cup Final.

The 2024/25 campaign was another productive season, featuring in 19 games in all competitions and netting two goals, one of those being a sensational 40-yard strike against Aston Villa in the Women’s League Cup, which unsurprisingly won the Supporters’ Goal of the Season award.

The Finland international made her senior national debut against China in June, 2017 and has been a key part of the squad since. She was a permanent fixture throughout her country’s successful qualification for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and was in the final squad that competed in England.

With Finland qualifying once again for Euro 2025, she was named in their squad that travelled to Switzerland to compete in her second major international tournament, featuring in all three games in that competition.
