Tottenham have already begun internal discussions about replacing Thomas Frank with three names on the club’s shortlist, according to a report.

Frank is under increasing pressure at the club following a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon. Spurs are 11th in the Premier League after 16 games, with six wins, four draws and six defeats.

It is the club’s worst start to a league campaign for 17 years as they sit six points adrift of the top four. Up next is a home game with Liverpool, who are now unbeaten in five games in all competitions after turning a corner under Arne Slot.

According to Caught Offside, “internal discussions have already begun at Tottenham regarding his [Frank’s] long-term position” but they are not ready to sack him immediately with the ex-Brentford man set to be afforded more time.

A shortlist has already been drawn up, however, with the report adding that Mauricio Pochettino has been identified as the strongest potential replacement if Frank is to be dismissed from his position.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and Fulham manager are also said to be on the shortlist. Glasner is out of contract at Palace at the end of the season and has yet to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park while Silva has a high compensation fee to get him out of his contract with the Cottagers.

“I think Frank is a really good manager and we have to remember that all managers need time," said ex-England winger and BBC Match of the Day pundit Theo Walcott. "Spurs are not in a terrible position either.

"I think the disappointing thing from their fans' point of view is that this is an opportunity to do even better because of how close the middle of the table is - and how no-one is really standing out massively in that middle pack."

After the loss to Forest, Frank said: "I do everything to control my emotions, which is a hurricane inside me, because, of course, it's deeply frustrating that we are not doing better after three good performances.

"It is extremely important to be calm and measured and of course, have very, very direct and clear messages at the right time so they're not in doubt of what I think, because I'm very honest about where we are as well.

"I was also very honest, today was a very bad performance. No two ways about that, but also know that to change this, this will take some time.

"No one will want to hear about that. It's just reality. I think the ones who have followed the club and the team, I think it's fair to say there's been a few not too consistent performances, and that's the thing. We are working very hard."
