Another player has left Tottenham Hotspur this summer as Johan Lange looks to give Roberto De Zerbi a clean slate.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the departure of Alejo Veliz. The 22-year-old striker, whom the Lilywhites signed from Rosario Central for £13million during the summer of 2023, will join Bahia at the start of next month.

Veliz only featured eight times for Spurs, scoring a solitary Premier League goal during a 4-2 defeat to Brighton in his debut campaign. He then enjoyed spells at Sevilla and Espanyol before returning to his childhood club on loan.

Last season, Veliz scored six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for Rosario, helping them win the 2025 Liga Profesional after topping the table. Having made quite the impression in the Argentine top-flight, he attracted interest from Bahia.

Earlier this year, football.london reported that the transfer had been agreed with the Brazilian outfit, part of the City Football Group, and was to be completed at the end of the season in Argentina. Tottenham and Bahia agreed a £7.8m (€9m) deal, plus £871k in add-ons (€1m) and a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

Last week, Veliz, who has signed a five-year contract with Bahia, spoke candidly to Globo at the airport ahead of his move to the Brazilian outfit. He said: "I am very happy with this step in my career, arriving at this club.

"I am very emotional about leaving Rosario Central because that is my home and my family. We made this decision because I want to grow my career somewhere else.

"It was the best decision we made as a family. I watched the fans a lot. I also watched the recent matches. It is incredible. I hope I can give back a little of what they do."

Veliz is just the second first-team player to leave Tottenham this summer. Earlier this month, Yves Bissouma headlined a wave of departures from Hotspur Way as Johan Lange looks to give Roberto De Zerbi a clean slate.

The 29-year-old midfielder, whom the Lilywhites signed from Brighton for £30m during the summer of 2022, was joined by several under-21 and under-18 players, who had enjoyed varying levels of success in the academy.

An official statement from the club at the time read: "We extend our grateful thanks to all departing players and their families for their contributions to the club and wish them every success in the future."
