Hamburg director Claus Costa has said there is ‘no chance’ Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic will stay for next season. The centre-back is due to head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. He will then be looking to force his way into their team in the Premier League.
Spurs are currently battling to preserve their top flight status. They were beaten 4-1 by rivals Arsenal at home over the weekend. The London outfit are 16th in the table and are four points above the relegation zone.
Tottenham Hotspur latest regarding Luka Vuskovic
In this latest update regarding his situation at Hamburg, Costa has said, via Sport1: “Contractually, there’s no chance he’ll stay. It’s purely a loan, and we have no way to tie Luka to HSV long-term.”
Vuskovic, 19, is being tipped for a bright future in the game. He is a Croatia international with two caps under his belt so far. The youngster has become a standout player in the Bundesliga this season and has a lot of potential to develop down the line.
Spurs signed him in August 2025 before loaning him out to Hamburg to get some experience. He has made 21 appearances in this campaign and has chipped in with four goals. His current club were promoted from Bundesliga.2 last year and have since adapted well to life in the top flight.
Vuskovic rose up through Hadjuk Split’s academy ranks. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels before going on to play 11 times for their first-team. The Split-born man was also loaned out to Radomiak Radom and Westerlo to boost his development.
What next for Tottenham Hotspur and Igor Tudor?
Spurs are back in action on Sunday with an away trip to Fulham. Speaking after their heavy defeat to Arsenal, caretaker boss Igor Tudor said: “It’s nice to understand where we are, because you prepare in the best possible way then there is the game to show you reality.
“So it’s nice from one point of view so each of us understand and come, as I said the players, stay quiet, they come on Tuesday and restart after these three or four training sessions to start to work harder than we did until now, to change our habits, to change the state of mind which is now as a team. It is the only way to work."
