Liverpool have discussed the possibility of signing a Tottenham Hotspur defender, reports suggest.

Spurs find themselves in a Premier League relegation battle. With just seven games remaining, the North London side are just one point above the drop zone. Should Tottenham go down then they likely to offload some of their assets.

Captain Cristian Romero and centre-back partner Micky van de Ven are two who would be in line to depart. Van de Ven has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the Netherlands international recently revealing that Liverpool were keen before he joined Tottenham in the summer of 2024.

However, according to reports in Germany, the Reds have shown an interest in signing a Spurs defender out on loan. Bild claims that Liverpool have looked at Luka Vuskovic.

The 19-year-old moved to Tottenham from Hajduk Split last summer before he was loaned to Hamburger SV. This season, Vuskovic has made 26 appearances, scoring five goals. He has also been capped three times for Croatia and is set to be part of their squad at this summer's World Cup.

Bild reports that Vuskovic wants to play in European competition next season, something that Spurs will not be able to offer him. He is considered a 'mega-talent in European football' with several clubs keen. Barcelona want the teenager but Liverpool and Chelsea supposedly have the defender on their radar.

Will Liverpool sign Luka Vuskovic?

Centre-back is an area that Liverpool may need to bolster despite agreeing to sign Jeremy Jacquet for up to £60 million from Rennes.

As things stand, Ibrahima Konate will depart Anfield on a free transfer at the end of his contract. In addition, Joe Gomez’s deal expires in 2027 and he has had well-documented fitness issues over the past few years.

But despite Vuskovic’s talent, it would leave Liverpool with a lack of experience with Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni, who is only 19 and still on the road to recovery from rupturing his ACL.

If the Reds do pursue another centre-back, they may want someone who is more seasoned in their career in the age bracket of 22-25. In addition, Bild suggests Vuskovic has a price tag of around £52 million, which would be a significant fee to pay
