Arsenal face Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. They will be looking to return to winning ways following the international break. The Gunners were beaten 1-0 away at Liverpool at Anfield last time out and weren’t able to get a result against Arne Slot’s men.
Mikel Arteta’s side won away at Manchester United on the opening day. They then backed up that result with a heavy 5-1 win over Leeds United. The London outfit will be hoping for some of the same against the Reds this weekend.
Arsenal to face Ange Postecoglou
Arsenal’s upcoming opponents Nottingham Forest have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach. He will take charge of his new team for the first time against the Gunners. The Aussie was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season.
He has penned a two-year deal with the Reds. Following his move to the City Ground, he has said: “I love winning things. That’s what I’ve done. From my perspective now it’s about implementing my own ideas. It’s no secret I like my teams to attack, I love my teams to score goals.
“That is sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my team to play that way is because I love winning things and that is what I want to do here. When you look at what the club has achieved in recent times, it’s an outstanding feat to be where we are right now. Other clubs that have won promotion have struggled to stay in the league, but in a short space of time we’re back in Europe and competing for honours, which is a great credit to everyone involved.
“I get a sense that the club wants more and that’s certainly what I want, so I think it’s a really exciting time. I’m honoured and I’m humbled, but more importantly I’m determined to make sure this football club takes its rightful place.”
Ange Postecoglou’s record against Arsenal
Postecoglou came up against Arsenal on four occasions during his time at Spurs. However, he didn’t win once. His ex-team drew once and lost three times against the Gunners.

Postecoglou’s Spurs finished down in 17th place in the table last term. However, they won the Europa League after beating Manchester United in the final. Brennan Johnson scored their winner in Bilbao.
He started his managerial career in Australia with South Melbourne before spells at Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory. The 60-year-old later went on to manage the Australian national team before moving to Japan for three years at Yokohama F. Marinos.
Celtic lured him to Scotland in 2021 and he was a hit during his two seasons with the Hoops, winning the title in both of them. He also won the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup during his time at Celtic Park. Spurs then came calling and he won 46.5% of matches there.
