Tottenham have identified alternative targets to Manchester City winger Savinho.
Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur are making good progress in negotiations with Manchester City for the signing of Savinho.
Spurs made several attempts to bring Savinho to North London last summer, only for former Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola to block a move. As a result, he ended up staying in Manchester. The Brazilian endured a hugely frustrating season, riddled with injury problems and limited minutes.
It has been widely reported that the Sky Blues have set a £60m valuation on Savinho. In case negotiations with Man City hit the buffers and a deal fails to materialise, the Tottenham bosses have identified alternative targets.
Tottenham eye Union SG talent Anan Khalaili
According to reliable Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe on X, Union SG winger Anan Khalaili is being considered by Tottenham.
Anan Khalaili moved to Union SG from Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2024. The youngster produced an impressive campaign in Union SG colours, racking up six goals and as many assists in 52 appearances. He has caught the eye of Tottenham bosses with his versatility, pace, running power and output.
Spurs struggled for creativity and goals from wide areas, so they could do with more threat on the flanks. Khalaili, though, isn’t yet a household name across Europe, but at 21, he has shown a lot of promise in the Belgium Pro League and the Champions League. He has developed his game around pace, tenacity, direct running and the ability to create problems for well-drilled defences.
For De Zerbi, that profile certainly makes sense. His style of play needs players who can stretch the pitch, receive under pressure and turn possession into an opening. Given that the Israeli international is a key figure in the side, Union SG are unlikely to let him leave for peanuts. They are expected to demand a sizeable fee if Tottenham makes a concrete approach to sign him.
As things stand, Savinho is the primary option to bolster the wide department. Should a deal not materialise for any reason, Spurs would do well to pivot their interest to Khalaili.
