Olivia Holdt has been named your HSBC Player of the Match after she bagged a brace and assist in our 3-0 victory over Birmingham City in the Subway Women’s League Cup on Sunday.
Having already claimed the award this term following our 2-1 win over Leicester City last month, ‘Olli’ was once again at her very best and inspirational to pick up our first three points in the competition.
Back in the starting XI, the exciting midfielder was at the heart of our three goals at Brisbane Road to overcome the Women’s Super League 2 side.
After some nice build-up play in midfield between Maite Oroz and Matilda Vinberg, the latter played Oliva through into the box and she showed complete composure, scooping the ball over Lucy Thomas and into the back of the net.
She then played a crucial role in our second goal eight minutes into the second period as, after some lovely footwork on the edge of the box, she picked out Amanda Nilden inside the box who curled home with her right-foot to double our advantage.
Then, with just over a quarter left to play in the contest, the Denmark international sealed up our win with her second of the game and, once again, she showed calmness inside the box, taking the ball round Thomas before slotting home into the empty net.
