We begin our Subway Women’s League Cup group phase against Aston Villa at Brisbane Road on Wednesday night (7pm UK) – secure your tickets now – and we put some strong statistics on the line.
Welcoming the Villains to the capital, we’ll be protecting an impressive stat in our opening game in the competition, having just lost once in eight games in the first fixture of the group games (in the 90 minutes) since we were eligible to take part in the competition for the 2017/18 campaign – our only defeat coming in September, 2019, with a 4-0 defeat to Reading.
And we certainly enjoy goals at this stage in the competition.
Having played 21 group games so far, we’ve scored an impressive 61 goals, with 11 netted in a single game against Watford in November, 2011.
Meanwhile, this will just be the second time we’ve faced Villa in this competition, having previously come up against them last term where a 40-yard screamer from Eveliina Summanen earned us a 1-0 win at Brisbane Road.
