Tottenham Hotspur have a few behind-the-scenes issues that need resolving in the coming weeks.
Indeed, there are a few players at Spurs who are stuck in uncertain situations and they need to speak with their new manager, Thomas Frank, about their futures.
Cristian Romero’s situation is very unclear right now, while Heung-Min Son could be set to leave.
Meanwhile, there are a few players who are due contract extensions.
Mikey Moore was ‘outstanding’ for Spurs in his breakthrough campaign last season, and according to Alasdair Gold speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Moore should sign a new deal this summer.
Mikey Moore set for new contract
Moore signed a new contract at Tottenham last summer, and he could be set to renew his terms once again.
Gold says that it’s very normal for a player to sign a new deal every year as they progress to first-team level and he expects Moore to get a better deal now after becoming a first-team regular.
“The other ones I think are 2027, Mikey Moore. Mikey Moore I would imagine that will be tied up this summer and we’ll see a new deal for him. When they’re 16,17 or 18 you get these new contracts that kick in anyway and I’m sure they’ll agree to one that reflects a player who has made his Premier League bow now and played 19 times last season,” Gold said.
Tottenham’s upcoming contract decisions
Moore is set for a new contract at Spurs, and there are a few other Tottenham players who may need to open negotiations about a new deal before too long.
Indeed, we’re getting into a crunch period for many Spurs players, and big decisions need to be made.
Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are heading into the final year of their deals, so talks there may have to start sharpish, while it looks like Heung-Min Son and Ben Davies may be at the end of the line in their Tottenham careers.
Meanwhile, Cristian Romero and Richarlison’s contracts are up in 2027, and both players are at a bit of a crossroads at the moment it must be said.
Daniel Levy and co certainly have plenty of work to do on this front as they look to keep hold of their key players.
