Patrick Vieira’s latest comments about the best manager he’s worked with could cause a storm after he snubbed Arsene Wenger for a former Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The 49-year-old created history with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal by becoming the first and only Premier League club to go a full season in the league unbeaten.

In total, the World Cup winner made 401 appearances under Wenger during his time in North London, with the French coach having brought him to N5 back in 1996.

But despite all that, there is actually another coach whom the former Arsenal player thinks is better than Wenger, and he used to manage Spurs.

Patrick Vieira names former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho as his best coach

Patrick Vieira has named former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho as the best coach he had during his career.

The French international worked with some other elite managers, including Wenger, Roberto Mancini and Fabio Capello, but he thinks Mourinho was the best.

The former Arsenal captain claims that the Portuguese’s ability to get the best out of players is what made him number one in his eyes.

Vieira made 40 appearances under Mourinho at Inter Milan, which included the season that the Nerazzurri won a historic treble.

When asked about the best manager he has worked with during his career, Vieira told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “The coach, Jose Mourinho.

“I say Jose Mourinho because I believe he can pull the maximum from a player, and that is the most important quality.”

Jose Mourinho’s Premier League record compared to Arsene Wenger’s

Wenger actually holds the record for the most Premier League games coached by any manager, having surpassed Sir Alex Ferguson.

The French coach took charge of 828 Premier League matches, which is 465 more than what Mourinho managed.

But despite that, Mourinho only just has a better points per game record than the ex-Arsenal boss, which is pretty impressive going.

The pair are also level on Premier League titles, having both won three during their time in England’s top-flight.
