Pedro Porro to Man City: Tottenham defender targeted as exit nears amid relegation fears
Manchester City are interested in re-signing Pedro Porro this summer as several top Tottenham stars prepare to leave if they are relegated from the Premier League.
Porro has been a key man for Spurs for numerous seasons now, but could well leave the club this summer if they succumb to relegation.
The Spaniard was on Man City’s books for three years before joining Sporting on a permanent basis in 2022, and they are now interested in making another move for his services in the next window.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, City have been long-term admirers of Porro and he will depart Tottenham if they go down this season.
Man City’s transfer plans are set to focus on signing a new right-back ahead of next term, as they are yet to replace Kyle Walker since he left last summer.

Pedro Porro in Man City’s sights as Tottenham exit looms
Porro has continued to be a standout for Spurs this season, despite their struggles, with one goal and five assists in 37 appearances so far.
Tottenham are in a relegation battle as it stands, and he could even leave the club this summer if they survive dropping into the Championship.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “(Man City) have had a long-term interest in Pedro “Porro. They know all about the Spanish international, having signed him from Girona in 2019.
“He never played a game for Man City during his time at the club. He had spells out on loan at Real Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon, which is where he made a real name for himself.
“Porro has been a top performer for Spurs since his arrival at the club. They won’t really want to lose him, but it could be out of their hands if they were to suffer the ill fate of being relegated this season, which is a real possibility.
“I’m sure a number of clubs, not just Manchester City, are looking at Porro and other Tottenham players to see who they could maybe steal away if the worst happens to Tottenham and they are relegated.”
Lucas Bergvall is another Spurs star who could leave this summer
Tottenham’s current predicament has seen several top players linked with moves away from the club in the summer.
Promising midfielder Bergvall is wanted by Chelsea, according to Football Insider’s sources, and like Porro, is another who could leave North London in the coming months.
He is out injured right now, but has registered 71 appearances for Spurs since joining from Djurgarden in 2024.
Bergvall is not believed to want out of Tottenham right now, yet if they do succumb to relegation, an exit feels inevitable for one of the Premier League’s brightest young stars.
