Tottenham Hotspur are now searching for a new manager after opting to sack Ange Postecoglou on Friday evening.
Spurs had been gearing up to sack Postecoglou no matter what the outcome of the Europa League final was, and the deed has now been done.
Postecoglou’s dismissal comes just over a fortnight after he guided Tottenham to European glory, giving the club their first trophy since 2008.
However, Postecoglou has paid the price for a poor domestic campaign, with Spurs finishing a lowly 17th in the Premier League table.
Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has now posted a heartfelt tribute to Postecoglou in the wake of the Australian’s dismissal.
Pedro Porro will ‘always be grateful’ to Ange Postecoglou
Pedro Porro took to Instagram to praise Ange Postecoglou for a number of reasons, including helping him settle at N17 and for trusting him out on the pitch.
The Spaniard also praised Postecoglou for how he coached the team, along with giving Spurs one of the greatest moments in their history.
“Thank you for everything, boss,” wrote Porro. “For mentoring me early on, helping me settle into the club, and trusting me out on the pitch.
“I’ll always be grateful for the way you led us, defended us, and kept us going through all the highs and lows.
“Above everything, you gave us one of the greatest moments in the club’s history and for that, you’ll always be celebrated.
“Wishing you all the very best, boss.”
Who could be next in the Tottenham dugout?
Postecoglou has been the subject of many tributes – along with Porro, Graham Roberts has also praised Postecoglou.
Tottenham fans are especially gutted over Postecoglou’s sacking, as they felt he truly understood the club.
However, the deed is done, and Spurs will now need to look for a replacement.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Brentford’s Thomas Frank is the frontrunner to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham.
