Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite might just stay put for next season despite strong Tottenham interest

Tottenham need to work quickly on bringing in new players for Thomas Frank as the pre-season is about to commence in a few weeks’ time. The Lilywhites are yet to make a mark in the transfer window, and the fans are understandably frustrated with the lack of movement to bring in reinforcements for next season.

The managerial situation at N17 forced the North London club to take a step back from approaching new players during the initial weeks of the summer. Now that a new manager is appointed, Daniel Levy must do everything he can to back him and give him all the tools necessary to succeed at Hotspur Way.

Thomas Frank also has a massive task of replacing someone that managed to end the club’s long-standing trophy drought last season. The Danish tactician wants to succeed at N17, and has made it point to make the club ‘serial winners’ again following the Europa League success that Spurs endured.

Tottenham might miss out on Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite

It is an open secret now that Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements in the summer following a dismal domestic campaign. With Cristian Romero facing an uncertain future at N17 with new links to Real Madrid emerging, Daniel Levy must do everything he can do replace the Argentinian with a quality defender for next season.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. The England international has quickly made a name for himself and the Lilywhites were keen to land him at N17 for next season. However, Tottenham have now received a setback in their efforts to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old. Speaking to Spurs Web, Ben Jacobs said,

“I don’t see Everton selling Branthwaite for under £70m, or even at all, and I am not aware of anything of note yet from Spurs on that front. I think most clubs know Everton’s asking price hasn’t dropped.”

Ben Jacobs has suggested that Tottenham will have to pay a minimum fee of around £70m to land Jarrad Branthwaite. The journalist also adds that there is a possibility that Everton do not sell the defender in the summer. Jacobs pointed out that Spurs have still not made any advances for the 22-year-old, and the Toffees will not lower their asking price in the coming weeks.

The Lilywhites are ready to kickstart a new era at N17 following Thomas Frank’s arrival. The Danish tactician must build on the Europa League success next season. And for that, he must be backed in the summer so that he can get the right players in for his setup. If the deal to sign Jarrad Branthwaite looks tough, then Daniel Levy must focus on other defenders instead.
