Tottenham Hotspur have previously shown interest in FC Copenhagen’s Victor Froholdt but didn’t make advances as they refused to pay £5m.

Last month, Tipsbladet reported Spurs aren’t looking at the 19-year-old for this summer.

Tottenham seem to have changed their stance as Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg reported three days ago that they have entered the race to sign Froholdt. He also stated Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on securing the midfielder’s services.

Viaplay expert Thomas Gravesen has urged the youngster to snub the Europa League winners and the German club and to continue at Copenhagen. His quotes are relayed by Tipsbladet.

Gravesen, who represented Everton, Real Madrid and Celtic during his playing career, is of the belief that clubs bigger than Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt can come in for him next year.

Tottenham have qualified for the Champions League after winning the Europa League and finished 17th in the table. They also parted ways with Ange Postecoglou and now have to appoint his successor.

Gravesen has urged his compatriot to focus on making his debut for Denmark and playing in the Champions League with Copenhagen.

“Aim higher. Frankfurt is a great club, and Tottenham is a great club, but this guy needs to aim a little higher,” he said.

“Go for the gold. Have an ice in your stomach and play a season in the Champions League where you show how good you are as a footballer so you can hit the top shelf.

“Frankfurt is okay and a very good club. Rasmus Kristensen is showing the way down there. Tottenham are in a difficult place at the moment, even though they’ve won a trophy in Europe, but come on Victor Froholdt.

“Show us on the Danish national team and in the Champions League for FC Copenhagen that you belong on a shelf that’s somewhat higher than the two clubs mentioned.”
