There are a lot of reasons why Ange Postecoglou proved to be such a success at Celtic, winning five trophies during his two years in Glasgow, when nobody had given him a chance when he arrived as a late alternative to Eddie Howe in the summer of 2021. But his biggest quality might have been the ability to find phenomenal talents for bargain transfer fees.

Of course, we all know about the signings of Kyogo, Jota, Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnston, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Josip Juranovic, Matt O'Riley and more. But there are some who slipped through Celtic's fingers as well.

In early 2023, when Giakoumakis left Celtic, somewhat unexpectedly, the club brought in Oh Hyeon-gyu. The South Korean striker did show flashes of quality but never really got a genuine run in the first-team with Kyogo in top form and ahead of him in the pecking order.

Postecoglou would leave in the summer of 2023 and Brendan Rodgers replaced him. But once again, Oh struggled for chances and nobody was really worried when he left in the summer of 2024 to join Genk in Belgium. But as it turns out, Celtic might have failed to recognise his talent.

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, VFB Stuttgart is set to complete the signing of Oh. KRC Genk and VfB are now in advanced talks for a deal worth €28 million.

Oh did not play a lot for Genk either. But he has scored goals at a very impressive rate and that has earned him this big move to Germany.

Of course, having seen him leave just a year back, it is hard not to feel that Celtic missed out with Oh. One would imagine they have a sell-on clause though.
