Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been speaking in Australia as he awaits his fate. The Spurs boss faces a very uncertain future despite winning the Europa League and securing Champions League qualification for next season.

A disastrous Premier League campaign means Postecoglou’s trophy win does not get him off the hook, and while he has not been sacked yet, it appears as though Daniel Levy and the North London club’s chiefs are shopping around to see who might be available.

Tottenham are unlikely to move on from Postecoglou unless they can find a new boss, but if they don’t, Ange might get to keep his job. The Australian is back home enjoying time off with his family as he waits for his phone to ring, and during his time down under, he has given an interview to ABC Australia, speaking about the silverware he won this season.

“Something told me that this was going to be my destiny … this is what I was supposed to do," he told the Australian Story series. "I have no doubt that for me the mission when I joined the football club was to win a trophy.”

Postecoglou went on to speak about his ambitions for the future with Tottenham despite the uncertainty surrounding his position. "I didn't want us to just enjoy the moment," he added. "I also wanted us to think about what's next, you know — don't settle for this. We've got a taste of it now. My players have got a taste for it. The club's got a taste for it. Well, let's make sure we're back here again.”

On his own personal ambitions, Postecoglou said: “When we sat down 10 years ago and did the initial Australian Story, I think maybe even you guys thought that that was the culmination of what I was about to achieve. In 10 years' time, if we sit down again, I've got no doubt in my mind that there'll be more stories to tell."

It has been radio silence from Tottenham as they consider what to do next but there has been some movement in the dugout, with first team coach Ryan Mason leaving to take the head coach role at West Brom. Levy said of the departure: "Ryan has been an integral part of Tottenham Hotspur for a number of years, both as a player and a coach. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ryan for all his dedication and hard work over the years, and we wish him every success for the future."

West Brom chairman Shilen Patel said: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan to The Hawthorns as our new Head Coach, along with Nigel and Sam. We have undertaken a thoughtful and expansive search and Ryan always stood out to us among an incredibly strong group of candidates. We are excited to have someone whose skillset means he has the aptitude to help us further establish elite standards in both preparation and player development for the first team and across all our team programmes.

“His experiences as both a first team player and coach under some of the game’s most respected minds, along with his time leading academy sides, will be instrumental as we shape a clear philosophy and unified identity at all levels at the Albion.”
