'The DNA of Newcastle is a good fit for us'

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle, speaking to Sky Sports: "Incredible. Really proud, we are really proud as a club and coaching staff to see the team delivering on the pitch and also seeing players committed to what we are doing. Proud and a moment to enjoy.
"We did well also last week. It was a step in the right direction again with a strong opponent, huge signings. The way we handled the opponent was amazing.
"It is always the same as a coach, you try to emphasise where you can stretch the opponent and find gaps. We tried to keep our priniciples. The DNA of Newcastle is a good fit to the playing style I like to see so therefore we saw already in the past similarities."
On Nico Gonzalez and his performance: "I am happy that you somehow think I am smart. When he has the ball he has a good timing, when to deliver and also when to slow down the game. A really good debut."
On improvement in players like Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa under him: "I don't take the compliments yet. I try just to encourage them, motivate them and support them, not only those two but the whole squad. I am really happy to see the improvement.
"It means a lot. I just said to the lads in the locker room we can count now our defensive stability. The clean sheet today was a big goal.
"We have ambitions, we know what is needed. The squad is strong but there are still a couple of days left then we can talk again."
'We will not panic'

Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think for 65 minutes we played better than Newcastle, we had a chance to score and didn't score. And then after the goal we lost the distances. We created other chances but if you analyse the game, we had more chances, more shots, we are not a team yet and have to improve on a lot of things but that is normal for a new team.
"Forget the result. I am not angry, we are working well and were unlucky today with the result.
"We had more control of the ball, we can improve in the defensive phase with the distances. Sometimes we regained the ball and had chances to score and also with the ball we can improve and keep it much better but it is part of this work when you change many players and start a new project with a new team."
On early concerns: "We will not panic. I know very well where we are going, what the plan is and what difficult problems we could find in our way. I am sorry for the fans and sorry for the players for the result but we have to improve and to change two seasons like the last two is impossible in 10 days and with people in the transfer market. We have to work hard on the pitch and find the connection with the players because last season before the end of the season we were in the Championship and we stayed up together.
"Now we have to keep clam and focus on improvement. We have a great squad and great players, we can't use all the players we brought but if we work in this way and believe in ourselves I think we will change the last two seasons. If the rush is more important than the journey we can't find the solutions to the last two seasons."
'An unfair result'

Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to BBC Sport: "Disappointed for the result because until the first goal we conceded I think we played better than Newcastle. We lost ball possession in the first half because we didn't defend in the right way, the distance between the defenders and attackers was too big.
"We can improve in the defensive phases but today was an unfair result.
"At the beginning of the second half we had some chance to create the potential chances. We created many chances to score, we have to improve the last decision, because that will make a difference. At the end we are disappointed for the result and our fans. We are working to be a great team. When we become a team I think we can change the story of the last two seasons for Tottenham.
"We are working to be good on the pitch, if you believe in work and training then you have to improve day by day."
'This group has so much potential'

Newcastle midfielder Nico Gonzalez, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was amazing. I have been four days here so it wasn't easy for me to start but I am really happy for the work I have done and the team has done.
"The idea [in the second half] was the same but we made a few adjustments and were a little more aggressive on them. I think that this group has so much potential, we are really young and have so much space to improve and even today I felt like we kept on improving and feeling more comfortable and that is the way we need to keep going."
On his pass for the first goal: "It is something I spoke a lot about with the coach. He wants me to see these kind of balls and I tried a few in the first half and the second half and we scored. It is something we have tried to work on. In the second half we said, 'we have to keep doing this because it is really hard to defend these types of players. I hope it gives us many more goals this season."
