The Championship side have triggered the option to buy the attacking midfielder after his successful loan spell at Deepdale last season. Alfie made 48 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring eight goals and was named the club's Young Player of the Year.
Alfie departs with his name etched in our record books - he remains our youngest first team goalscorer after netting on his debut against Marine in the FA Cup aged 16 years and 163 days in January, 2021.
Initially joining our Academy from Wigan Athletic in 2020, Alfie made three appearances for us, all in the FA Cup. He also enjoyed loan spells at Port Vale, Plymouth and Westerlo in Belgium.
On the international stage, Alfie has represented England at Under-16, Under-19 and Under-20 levels. He was part of the squad that won the European Under-19 Championships in 2022 and selected for the Under-20 World Cup in 2023.
