One of Thomas Frank’s key players has started to look really impressive during Tottenham Hotspur training
Thomas Frank will be getting a chance to assess his new group of players in training, and with pre-season matches having commenced.
Several players impressed during Spurs’ 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday at the Madejski Stadium, with Luka Vuskovic and Will Lankshear scoring.
The club have just released footage from training, and one player in particular looked very good in front of the cameras.
Antonin Kinsky could be the perfect goalkeeper for Thomas Frank
Antonin Kinsky has been showing off his impressive skills with the ball after a Tottenham Hotspur training session, which shows what he’s all about.
SpursOfficial’s cameras captured the 22-year-old showing strong control of the ball, particularly for a goalkeeper, after a session at Hotspur Way.
The young Czech Republic shot-stopper’s ability on the ball is an attribute which has made him really stand out in North London.
Towards the end of last season, Djed Spence hailed Kinsky’s ability on the ball, saying: “He brings composure. As a keeper, he’s very good with the ball, so I think that’s one of his main strengths as well.”
As was on show against Reading, Spurs kept looking to build out from the back and bait the press of the opposition.
Having a goalkeeper who is as willing as Kinsky to have the ball at his feet and the range of passing will be of great benefit to Frank’s system.
Kinsky, who Tottenham signed for £12.5m, certainly clears Guglielmo Vicario in this aspect of the game, although the Italian remains the stronger of the two in terms of shot-stopping.
Tottenham recently appointed Fabian Otte as their new goalkeeping coach, as he arrived from Premier League champions Liverpool.
The German coach could be of great benefit to Kinsky by helping him improve as a shot-stopper and look to displace Vicario as Spurs’ number one.
Antonin Kinsky impresses for Tottenham against Reading
Kinsky looked very solid in the first 45 minutes against Reading and was involved quite often with the build-up play.
The goalkeeper managed 19 touches, completing 15 of his 18 passes against the League One side.
Frank made an interesting change on the weekend just prior to kick-off as he swapped Vicario for Kinsky in the starting lineup.
Kinsky will get another chance to impress this weekend when the North London club take on Luton Town in their second pre-season game.
