Wolves have had a difficult start to the new Premier League season, but finally managed to earn their first point from their clash against Tottenham.
Vitor Pereira‘s side drew 1-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Santiago Bueno gave them the lead in the second half, before Joao Palinha‘s 94th-minute strike saw the points shared.
While they are still chasing their first win of the season, the result looks to be a step in the right direction for the Premier League’s bottom side.
As a result of their poor start, Wolves are already preparing for the January transfer window, with key areas of the team still needing to be addressed.
However, they will now be hopeful of taking some confidence from the game, even if some of the players weren’t so impressed with the manager’s decision-making.
Joao Gomes ‘furious’ with Vitor Pereira’s decision vs Tottenham
Despite what was ultimately a good point away from home, the manager’s decisions during the game left some of his players raging.
Pereira opted to substitute Joao Gomes for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde after 64 minutes, leaving the Brazil international “furious” and he expressed his frustrations on the pitch.

As he walked off the pitch, Gomes was seen shaking his head, clearly feeling he had more to offer his team in the closing stages of the game.
Gomes was already on a yellow card, and Pereira was clearly not keen to take any risks as Wolves hunted their first point of the season, with the decision made as a precaution.
However, the boss’ decision was made in the best interests of the team, and any frustrations are now likely to have been dealt with in the dressing room.
Wolves backed to make Pereira sack decision after dismal start
After their dismal start to the season, with just one point gained from six games leaving them rock bottom of the table, pressure is beginning to grow on Pereira.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Wolves could sack Pereira despite opting to extend his contract earlier this month.
While the details of the contract have not been confirmed, it has been claimed it may include a break clause which would allow them to sack him for a discounted fee.
Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that Wolves regret extending Pereira’s contract and will already be having second thoughts about the decision.
Football Insider revealed on 23 September that Wolves are not considering sacking Pereira as things stand, but the current situation cannot continue for much longer.
