Tottenham Hotspur loanee Mikey Moore made his first start for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership against their bitter rivals Celtic.
Rangers hosted Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the season, and the game ended in a goalless draw at Ibrox.
The Gers’ supporters would probably have taken a draw considering their worrying start to the season under Russell Martin.
But it was a big afternoon for Moore, who was handed his first start in the league for the Scottish giants.
The Tottenham Hotspur youngster’s display had fans talking, and here’s how they reacted to the teenager’s first league start.
Rangers fans slam Mikey Moore’s performance vs Celtic
Mikey Moore had a tough first start in Rangers colours in the Scottish Premiership as he was subbed off after 72 minutes.
The hosts enjoyed the lion’s share of the possession and chances, however, they struggled to really test Kasper Schmeichel in the Celtic net.
Moore was rather fortunate to have lasted on the pitch for as long as he did, managing to complete just four passes in the derby.
The winger also completed just one dribble attempt against Anthony Ralston and fellow Tottenham academy graduate Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The good news is that the 18-year-old managed to start ahead of Djeidi Gassama on the left, but didn’t make a strong case for doing so going forward.
During the game, Rangers supporters took to X to share their thoughts on Moore’s display and it’s fair to say they weren’t best pleased.
One fan said: “Get Mikey Moore off now. A great player, but he isn’t ready for the intensity of this game. He looks lost out there. Rangers need to score as well, dominate 60 minutes, but he is having no impact.
“Sorry, but get Gassama on the left against Ralston. Mikey Moore is very, very average,” added another fan.
There was further disappointment aimed at the teenager: “Mikey Moore is absolutely anonymous for Rangers again today. Waste of a jersey. Send him back to Tottenham.”
Finally, another fan claimed: “Mikey Moore, another overhyped player.”
It’s been a tough start to life in Rangers for Moore, having struggled for game time and to make an impact on the team.
Following Rangers’ heavy Champions League defeat to Club Brugge, Tottenham fans called for Moore to be recalled as he failed to get on the pitch.
Concerns over Russell Martin’s future at Rangers will worry Tottenham
Concerns over Martin’s future at Rangers will worry Tottenham, as he was the man who convinced them to send Moore on loan to Ibrox.
TBR Football understands that Moore’s talks with Martin sold him the project in Glasgow, as he turned down offers from Championship clubs.
Martin is now under big pressure at Rangers following a slow start to the season, having exited the Champions League in the play-offs and drawn each of their first four league games.
Spurs will be worried that whoever the next manager is at Ibrox may not fancy giving Moore time in the team like the current Rangers boss did.
