Rangers are considering an approach to Tottenham Hotspur to extend Mikey Moore’s stay at the club.

Moore, 18, joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Spurs last summer and has become a first-team regular under current head coach Danny Rohl, making 36 appearances so far across all competitions.

Able to play as a winger or more centrally, Moore’s performances have also impressed sections of the Rangers support and the player himself has spoken of his affection for the Ibrox outfit.

Moore agreed a “long-term” contract with Spurs when brokering the loan move to Rangers back in August but since he left the north London club, manager Thomas Frank has been sacked and they are battling relegation in the English Premier League.

Rohl has enjoyed working with the teenager and revealed conversations will start soon on whether the creative forward could return next season - either on another loan or a more permanent arrangement.

”I think he made a fantastic development since I'm here,” said Rohl on Moore. “He showed his quality. He's still a young player, he gained a lot of good experience this year. To play for a big club is always important, helpful in a young career, and a good experience; he did so well.

“I'm happy with him and of course, let's see what we can do. I think this is something to consider in the following weeks. I think this is a good thing that we are clear, we start next week as well to speak about the summer. Bring all this information together, and I think it’s important not just what we feel.

“I think Mikey feels also really good here, you see the relationship between him and the fans, he likes the club, but there are a lot of different people around to make such a decision. I think let's see what we can do in the future. Now lets focus on the title race and then we will hopefully make good decisions in the summer.”

Moore is set to be involved in Sunday’s Old Firm match against Celtic at Ibrox but defender Dujon Sterling and striker Ryan Naderi are battling to prove their fitness.

“Both are in the training,” added Rohl. “If it's enough to be in the squad, I have to decide tomorrow. It looks better but today is not the day to say they are in or out. We need one more session to see how they reacted after the training session yesterday and then we can go forward.”
