England’s Football Association previously investigated allegations that billionaire Joe Lewis , the former owner of Tottenham Hotspur, was potentially involved in betting on football matches, people familiar with the matter said.

The FA was alerted to a possible violation of its betting rules in 2022, one of the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. After looking into the allegations, it decided that no further action was required, according to the people.
